Our visit to the Roosevelt Campobello International Park occurred before the Site actually opened for the season. We wandered the grounds and peeked inside the windows of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s summer “cottage” while maintenance workers buzzed around us prepping the lawn and touching up paint on the fire engine-red house. There was still a month before the Site welcomed summer visitors yet staff was manic with preparatory activity. Wow. Are all Canadian parks this well-run?
The Visitor Center and Roosevelt Cottage are open from the Saturday following Victoria Day (the Saturday prior to U.S. Memorial Day) through Canadian Thanksgiving (U.S. Columbus Day). You can imitate our self-guided tour any time of the year.
