Exit Stage Right Wolf Trap NP is the first NPS site dedicated to the performing arts. On a recent trip to Washington, D.C. we drove out to Wolf Trap and had a look around.

Since there were no shows scheduled that evening, we were free to wander throughout the Filene Center, the partially-enclosed theatre that is the heart of the Park. We imagined how pleasant it would be to sit on the lawn and enjoy an evening performance in the early summer or late fall, when the air wasn’t too humid or hot. The acoustics here must be amazing.

With the help of the young box office attendants, we found the Ranger Station tucked among the fir trees, but no one was there. Since we had no interaction with an NPS employee and not even a stamp to show for our visit, we will return to Wolf Trap NP another time. Perhaps we’ll even catch a show.
